The 'CEO is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Company in accordance with the Board of Director’s policies and instructions, the Company’s Articles of Association, and laws and regulations. The CEO reports to the Board on the Company’s operational and financial performance at Board meetings. The CEO appoints Executive Managing Directors and leads the Executive Management Board & Delegates.
Executive Management Board
The Company’s operations are divided into four divisions and three support divisions. There are three business divisions; Iceland Sales and Business Management, Iceland Domestic Operations, and International Operations. An Operations Division and then three support divisions; Finance, Human Resources and Communications, and IT and Business Process Management. Additionally, the General Counsel reports to the CEO. The heads of the business-, operations- and support units form the Company's Executive Management Board & Delegates together with the CEO.
General Counsel and Compliance Officer
General Counsel and Compliance Officer are responsible for the company's legal affairs.
The Finance Division is responsible for financial management, e.g. financing and liquidity management, the collection of trade receivables, financial statement preparation and accounting matters, monthly reporting, forecasting and cost controls, and the preparation of the group’s budgeting.
Human Resources and Communication
The Human Resources and Communication Division is responsible for human resources including recruitment, employee learning and development, and remuneration. The Division is also responsible for corporate social responsibility, marketing, communication, investor relations, and the Company’s global service policy.
IT and Business Process Management
IT and Business Process Management's main goal is to deliver value to the business and shareholders by optimizing end-to-end processes and deliver smart IT solutions based on an efficient and solid IT foundation.
Operations main responsibilities are to secure reliable and efficient management of the Company’s container sailing systems including fleet management of vessels, container units, and third-party terminal agreements. Operations are responsible for the management of the company's own and charter vessel fleet, both container and reefer vessels including shares in associated vessel ownership companies. Operations are also responsible for Safety and Security management for the group including, insurances, claims handling, and loss prevention projects.
Iceland Sales and Business Management
Iceland Sales and Business Management (SBM) division is responsible for global end-to-end sales of Eimskip liner network, offering customers both in Iceland and global markets, market-leading solutions for freight to & from Iceland and Greenland. SBM is actively engaged in close monitoring of its results, revenue, and cost control. Focusing on profitability and competitiveness
Furthermore, SBM via its subsidiaries is providing worldwide sea and air freight forwarding solutions, as well as a strong focus on e-commerce, Pharma Logistics, Marine Logistics, and other tailor-made forwarding services in the North Atlantic market.
SBM services are provided to diverse customer base and industries, from individuals to large Internationals.
Iceland Domestic Operation
Iceland Domestic operations are responsible for all operational systems and facility management in Iceland except the liner vessel & container operations. The main activities are trucking and distribution, warehousing, cold store operation, terminal operation, and ferry operation.
International Operations is responsible for the operation of the Eimskip’s group companies outside Iceland with 41 services centers in 18 countries. Main activities are liner services in Faroe Islands, Norway, Trans-Atlantic and short sea, agency services, warehousing, cold store operations, trucking, and worldwide logistics services. International headquarters are located in the Netherlands.
